CPC halts survey in trail boundary dispute
Other Committee 2026-08-26 Part 2 · Meeting of August 26, 2026
Bridgewater's Community Preservation Committee votes 5-0 to pause a costly land survey amid a boundary dispute. Member David Moore told the board the town shouldn't have to prove where a landlocked parcel's line falls before building a four-foot trail extension, warning the fight could land in court: "I don't see that the CPC or the town should bear the burden of locating a four-foot walking path over town property." The committee reported about $4.4 million available for future projects, with $706,000 earmarked for the Styles and Hart trail alone. Members also held three new funding requests worth a combined $1.3 million, including a Sturdivant's Farm historic marker and townwide parks accessibility work, after Community Preservation Coalition director Stuart Saginaw advised that "videos, brochures, and other such interpretive activities are not eligible" for CPA funds.
