Parks Board Presses Town Over Golf Contract

Other Committee 2026-10-05 Part 2 · Meeting of October 5, 2026

Bridgewater parks board flags oversight gap on long-extended golf course contract. The Parks and Recreation Commission said Monday the town manager's office has run the golf course agreement without the commission's required input, as Town Council President Paul Murphy seeks a financial review for a November council meeting. Members said the contract, originally set to run through Dec. 31, 2026, was quietly extended five years to 2032 sometime in 2023 or 2024.

"That never happened," one member said of the charter-mandated commission role, adding the town "was in error in negotiating that in not in good faith." The commission also approved August minutes unanimously, tabled September's pending a recording review, discussed a stalled multi-use field project backed by $25,000 in Community Preservation Committee engineering funds, and is hiring a new administrative assistant capped at 19 hours a week after thanking outgoing assistant Allison Johnson for her field-scheduling work.
