Bridgewater Conservation Commission Continues Three Wetland Filings to April 23 Meeting

BRIDGEWATER — April 9, 2026 — Bridgewater Conservation Commission continued all three pending wetland filings and opened a new hearing for a proposed O'Reilly Auto Parts site at 292 Bedford Street. Chair Marilyn McDonald and members Deb Johnson, Laurie Keene, and Eileen Prisco voted 4-0 each to continue notices of intent at 550 Curve Street, 548 South Street, and Summer Street pending third-party peer reviews and town engineer sign-off; a fourth 4-0 vote continued the new 292 Bedford Street filing (DEP SC 116-1582) for a proposed 11,750-square-foot commercial building after engineer Steve Giosa of SciTech Engineering presented plans to remove 10,000 to 11,000 square feet of impervious pavement and install subsurface recharge and water quality treatment systems. McDonald flagged uncertainty about several wetland flags at the Bedford Street site and said she would return for a second look before ordering a formal peer review. The commission issued one certificate of compliance — for a Department of Fire Services firefighting training facility at 911 Conan Street — but deferred action on a second request for 1460 Pleasant Street after attorney Paul Costello could not produce a structural engineer's certification for a retaining wall required under a 2006 order of conditions, a gap that threatens a pending property sale. Abutters Carol and Bill Lefebvre raised documented flooding concerns tied to the 548 South Street proposal, telling the commission, "There was a cease and desist that was ignored and we just don't want to be in that position again."
