Bridgewater panel votes 5-0 to pause disputed trail survey
Other Committee · Meeting of August 26, 2026
Bridgewater preservation panel pauses trail survey amid land dispute, holds three grant requests. The Community Preservation Committee voted 5-0 to suspend hiring a surveyor for the Styles and Hart Farm trail's southern section after member David Moore argued the town shouldn't "bear the expense of locating" a disputed boundary near an abutting property owner's land. The account holds $706,000 for that work.
Staff member Josh said repeated outreach to surveyors has gone unanswered. The committee also held votes on three new Community Preservation Act eligibility requests, including a roughly $1.3 million Parks and Recreation infrastructure proposal, after Community Preservation Coalition director Stuart Saginaw wrote that "historic interpretation is never eligible for CPA funds." The panel reported about $4.4 million available for future projects and approved amended July 22 minutes correcting language on the Summer Street property's conservation restriction.
