Conservation Board · Meeting of August 13, 2026
Bridgewater Conservation Commission continues four hearings, presses a sand pit owner over an open wetlands violation. Joseph Aruda, owner of Bridgewater Random Sand and Stone, told the board "I don't think there's any wetlands out there" and offered to donate roughly 10 acres to conservation, but Chair Marilyn McDonald said the offer "can't be on the table" until mitigation findings are complete. Conservation Agent Dan Levesqueurte also documented significant stormwater sediment reaching the 100-foot wetland buffer at a state-owned stockpile site off Great Hill Drive tied to DCAM, saying the affected area "at least doubled" after a recent storm.
The board unanimously continued hearings on a 12-unit Taunton Housing Authority redevelopment at 295 Main Street, a tire-facility storage expansion at 10 First Street, a single-family home at 550 Curve Street awaiting vernal pool review, and a new home at 0 Wildwood Place, all to Aug. 27. The commission also confirmed it has secured town funding, with estimates from $10,000 to $40,000, to rewrite its wetlands bylaw.
