Conservation board continues Curve Street wetland case

Conservation Board · Meeting of September 24, 2026

Bridgewater conservation panel stalls Curve Street home again over wetland fill fight. Chair Marilyn McDonnell's board voted 3-0 to continue Kevin Bumpus's long-pending 550 Curve Street filing to October 8 after the town's newly returned interim Community and Economic Development Director challenged a plan to fill 3,100 square feet of wetland to meet a 50-foot zoning setback, not a conservation requirement. "It's not often that DEP even passes these projects," he told the board, while Bumpus countered, "We're not dealing with the Hockomock Swamp over here." Separately, the commission kept $300-a-day fines in place on a 1010 Elm Street property now facing its third enforcement order after inspectors found dumped debris and creosote-soaked railroad ties inside a critical-concern wetland buffer, and opened a new hearing on a 9,520-square-foot commercial building proposed for 292 Bedford Street.

The board also issued four certificates of wetland compliance and closed a Jillian's Way garage filing with a negative determination.
