BRIDGEWATER --
TOWN -- The Recreation Commission discussed an inclusive playground project planned for a site behind the Williams School, described by members as sitting "dead center" on Legion Field property between the senior field and the old playground. The commission said organizers are still in the exploration stage, gathering construction plans and prices, with the town manager's office now overseeing the project after the Community Preservation Committee approved its eligibility. Separately, the commission said a Wednesday meeting with the assistant town manager would address who is responsible for mowing and lining the planned middle school multi-use field, with members floating the idea of converting an existing building, referred to in the meeting as the "Food Shack," for use by lacrosse on weekends. The commission noted the Community Preservation Committee has approved $25,000 for engineering work on the project, but said a written scope and RFP are still needed before the project can move to its next phase. Members also discussed CPC funds previously set aside for a new track and football field.
YOUTH LEAGUES -- The Recreation Commission reported on this year's Little League summer camp, calling it a trial year for bringing the camp back. Members said the camp drew no out-of-town participants and that all attendees were Bridgewater kids, with final financial numbers still pending from the treasurer.
