Other Committee 2026-09-16 Part 2 · Meeting of September 16, 2026

Bridgewater Tree Committee votes to plant a dozen new trees on the common and Broad Street. Members unanimously endorsed six trees for the town common, funded by a $2,269 Bridgewater Improvement Association purchase from Weston Nursery, and approved up to $5,000 for six more trees on Broad Street "at the discretion of the tree warden." Member Steve argued for planting a single species along Broad Street for visual consistency, saying a uniform boulevard is "much more beautiful," while member Brian countered that mixed species guard against disease wiping out the whole planting. The committee also weighed a Bartlett Tree Experts injection treatment, estimated under $2,000 per round, to save a historic beech tree at the Bridgewater Public Library, and heard the town is hiring a grants procurement officer after roughly six months without pursuing grant funding.
