Planning Board endorses hotel-site lot split, stalls farm subdivision

Planning Board · Meeting of September 16, 2026

Bridgewater Planning Board endorses hotel-site lot split, pushes novel farm subdivision to October. The board unanimously endorsed an ANR splitting the town's hotel development site (Assessor's Map 83, Lot 85) into two lots despite Pleasant Street resident Janet Hanson's request to table the vote over mapping and zoning-district errors in the filing, which Building Commissioner Steven Solari called clerical. The board also continued a long-pending Whispering Wood road-acceptance request and a 10-10 Elm Street commercial site plan to October 7, citing missing engineering reviews and applicant non-responsiveness to Conservation enforcement.

The biggest discussion centered on a proposed six-lot "peak performance community" subdivision at 593 Plymouth Street, featuring geothermal townhouses, a farm stand and growing "biodomes"; Solari warned the amenity package "exceeds" what Residential D zoning allows, and the board continued the item to October 21 pending a full zoning analysis.
