Select Board · Meeting of October 6, 2026

Bridgewater's Town Council approved four one-time budget transfers and voted 8-1 to create an Override Exploration Committee to study a possible Proposition 2½ override. The council pulled $242,000 from the employee liability fund to restore town hall staff hours to 38 a week and drew $96,650 from stabilization to keep the public library accredited and avoid a state waiver, passing that item 7-2. Town Manager Justin said the earlier hours cuts "were the right decisions" but called the current fix unsustainable.

State Rep. Dennis Gallagher announced the town received $249,000 in one-time prison-mitigation funding and a $2.53 million state grant for water infrastructure and downtown improvements. Councilors also voted 7-2 to keep the Planning Board's term at five years rather than cut it to three, rejecting part of a broader administrative-code rewrite's original language.
