Council votes to close doors on manager issue
Bridgewater's Town Council voted 9-0 to approve minutes before moving into a closed-door executive session on negotiations with the town manager.
Select Board · Meeting of August 18, 2026
Bridgewater's Town Council voted 9-0 to approve minutes before moving into a closed-door executive session on negotiations with the town manager. Councillor Spagone made both motions, seconded by Councillor Lindy, with the executive session authorized under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 30A, Section 21(a)(2) to prepare negotiation strategy involving the non-union position. During public comment, resident Chris Ajemi said an ongoing investigation has "generated racist comments again on social media" aimed at town officials, while resident Janet Hanson urged the council to seek "proof of any wrongdoings" before acting and warned that replacing the manager could be costly and could delay other town business, including water issues.
The council did not return to open session after the closed-door discussion.
