BRIDGEWATER — The Bridgewater Town Council voted 9-0 to refer the town manager's fiscal 2027 goals to the Strategic Planning Committee, then clashed publicly over secrecy in regional water talks with Brockton. Town Manager Justin Casanova-Davis told councilors no contract has been signed and said any final deal would come to a public vote. Councilor Perry said residents are "learning more through outside discussions and statements from another municipality than us, this council," while Councilor Allenburg warned a $50 million regional facility upgrade could leave Bridgewater liable for its share.
The council then voted unanimously, by roll call, to enter executive session twice: once on purchasing real estate for the water supply and once on non-union personnel negotiations. Councilor Linde objected that the session would proceed "without legal counsel." Charter Review Committee Chair Scott Pitta said council composition and Finance Committee authority are the top concerns raised in public listening sessions, with a fourth session set for October 4 at the fire station.
